Reading Book Review

Title: The Skateboarder's Club.

What is it about? The skateboarder's club is about making a big skateboarder's club so they can sgining a request  asking the city to allow a skate park to be built.

What do they do? They skateboard in the city


Exciting moment in the story? Adding a new person in the club.


The main people? Ivan Viola Lia Mum.

Evaluation:

1. What are you most proud of? I am proud of my moves for my tree & my sound. Why? Because I think they are very good.

2. What did you find challenging? The thing that challenged me the most was the sounds for the meteor. Why? Because I keep on getting muddle up with my meteor sounds.

3.  My next ‘Get It’ goal is? To focus more. Why? Because I am a little silly in my group.

Maths Sample

Description: For maths this term we have been learning a range of strategies to help us solve algebra problems. 

Task:  Make a short movie to prove that you have achieved your maths goal.

Evaluation:
What are you most proud of and why? I am proud of my post because I think it is very good I think I desrive a pat on the back.

What challenged you the most and why? Making the photo because it was a bit hard to come up with the question for my photo.

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Continue a number pattern & find the rule for finding the next number.

Feedback/Feedforward: 
I like how you state how you felt about your maths sample.
I would like you to explain why you felt those reasons.

My Important Thing

W.A.L.T: Write simple sentences.

Description: I read the important book & my writing class are making our own important book with our important things.

Writing: The important thing about a i-pad is you can take it anywhere. You can download lots of games. Have fun with it. Play with friends. Work with it. But the important thing about a i-pad is you can take it anywhere.


Evaluation:

What are you most proud of  & why ? I am proud of my writing because I think it is very great.

What challenged you the most & why ? The thing that challenged me the most was the ideas for my writing because if I didn't think really hard I could of not come up with my ideas.

What can you approve on next time ? Make a bigger story.


Feedback/Feedforward: Nice writing Ross a lot of explaining but you could get your first draft and your picture but exsiped from that this is really good. From Fraser.

Epic Food Fight

WALT:  respond.

Description:  This term we have been responding to a range of articles/stories and we realised that the way we were responding was difficult for anyone else to understand.  We have been practising writing our responses in full sentences so that anyone who reads them understands us.

Task:  Read the article “La Tomatina” and answer the questions below.

1.  What festival is held in Spain every August? The festival in Spain is called the La Tomatina.

2.  What do people do during the festival? The people during the festival squeeze a tomato & throw it at someone.
3.  How many tomatoes are used in the most epic food fight ever? 100 tons of tomatoes are used in the most epic food fight.
4.  When and why did the festival start? The festival started at 1944. Why did the festival start  because one of the city’s councilmen was attack with tomatoes. 
5.  Would you like to visit Bunol, Spain on the last Wednesday of August next year? I would not want to vist Bunol, Spain on the last Wednesday of August.  Why or why not? Why because I hate getting messy & I hate tomatoes.

Criteria:
I can answer questions using full sentences (I steal part of the question to put in my answer.)

Evaluation:
What are you most proud of and why? I'am proud of my answers because I think they are verey verey good.

What challenged you the most and why? The thing that challenged me the most was putting part of the question into the answers.

Description: We have been learning about when good learning happens.

Task: Share what you know about the learning pit.

Criteria:
Draw the Learning Pit.
List at least 3 feelings that you might have when you are in the pit. Hard challenged flustered.
List at least 3 strategies that you could use to get out of the pit.
Label where good learning happens. In the pit.
List 3 things you could say to yourself when you are in the pit.


Evaluation:
Reflect on a time when you have been in the pit.
How did you feel when you were in the pit? Worreyed because I was scared from not finishing my learning pit post.
What did you do to work out of the pit? I kept my head all the time when I was doing my post.

Feedback/Feedforward: great use of colour to help with the readers understanding.

Māori poster

WALT: communicate a message.

Description: We have been participating in 3 different workshops around colour, compositions and fonts.  We put these skills to use in a poster sharing our knowledge about Te Reo Maori.
Why? We have noticed that our posters are too cluttered and do not communicate a  message well.

Task: Make a poster about Te Reo Maori.

Criteria:
Message: My message is clear and purposeful.  Everything that is on my poster relates to my message. 

Composition:  My poster is balanced. 

Font:  My font is clear, readable and suits the message.

Colour:  I have used 2-3 colours that are complementary.  My background choice makes the text pop!

Accuracy:  All of the words on my poster are spelt correctly.

Evaluation:
What are you most proud of and why? I am proud of the way I put the colour of my text boxes because I think I did a good job of the colour so think I need a pat on the back.

What challenged you the most and why? The thing that challenged me the most was the size of the text boxes because I really want to let people see the background.

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Learn more māori words at home so I can learn more words.

Feedback/Feedforward: I like the way the maori is so bold. But you could make the little words bigger.

Grass hopper tennis sample

WALT: improve our small ball skills like catching, throwing, and hitting.

Description: We have been participating in a tennis programme with Big John (John Salisbury) from Tennis Manawatu. He has taught us some tennis skills that help with controlling and hitting the ball. To reflect on how we are going with the tennis skills we have learnt. We will share this during our Student Led Conference. Week 8. The World.

Task: complete the rubric with targets to show your reflection. Make a comment to the questions below?

Evaluation:
1.     What are you most proud of and why? I'm proud of my hitting because I am using all of my stringth to hit the high in the sky & when it comes down the other team will miss the ball so I can win.

2.     What challenged you the most and Why? The slice the cheese one because I keep on missing the ball.

3.      Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? To practice at home so I can be better at slice the cheese.

Writing Sample

WALT: inform.


Writing: States are three things that make matter. The three things are solid,liquid and gas. Solid is a lot of atoms that not have much space to move around. Liquid has les atoms then solid. Gas has way les atoms then solid that's because gas is air.  You can't see the atoms that's because they are so tiny that you need a super microscope to see the atoms.

Description: Integrity means doing the right thing when no body is looking. I used the 360 app to take the photo. To showcase our understanding of this terms value of Integrity. We will share this during our Student Led Conference. Week 7. The World.

WALT: We are learning to rote learn (learn off by heart).

Purpose: We are making mnemonics to help us learn our spelling words.

Process:  We made sentences out of our spelling words to help us remember how to spell each word.  We want to get 10/10.  If we make them funny it helps us to remember them.

Learning:  We learnt what mnemonics are and how they can help us.

I learned that fives & tens are much more easyer when you use them together. In my video I used 18x5= Then I half the 18 & put a 10 9x10=90 so that means 18x5=90. 1. What are you most proud of? When I was going fast with pasing the ball to my team.

Published piece of writing



When I was entering the the dark black cave my legs were wobbling like jelly. When I was in the cave and I looked up I saw a hole. in it there was something round. I moved and I had to go through a little tunnel it was a tight fit but  I got through I stoped. I looked left there was very small gap that indeed to go through and I ducked. I crawled but I was to big. I let the other people go I went back I saw the other people. I was scared. I was at the back I followed the rest  I got out of the cave some people wanted to go back in the cave so they went back into the cave.

Weet bix tryathlon

The challenging  part of the weet bix tryathlon was the swimming becuase I was going slowly & it was very hard.  The most enjoying part of the tryathlon was the bounce tunnel & it was so cool when I got to the end there was losts of kids there. I learnt that I need to xasice more. Next time I well have to lrean to stop on my bike & hop on my & push my self at the same time.

Treaty cinquains

Cinquains are poems that are short and easy to write. They follow the format below.
They have a set number of lines that they have to be that goes like this:
1st line: One word. This acts as your title
2nd line: Two words. These are Describing words about your title
3rd line: Three words. Some Action words to do with the title
4th line: Four words: Feelings about the title
5th line: One word: That is a Synonym or word that means the same as the title
Your task is to write a Cinquain about the Treaty of Waitangi. 
Here’s how to do it:
Brainstorm words or ideas to do with the Treaty. 
Use the thesaurus to help gather more words.
Describing words: Maori’s trading, Agreements made,
Action words: fighting,
Feelings: Unfair, Miscommunication, unjust, inequitable, prejudiced, biased, discriminatory; preferential, one-sided, unequal, uneven, unbalanced, partial, distorted, warped, loaded, weighted, slanted.Synonyms: agreement, settlement, pact, deal, accord, concord, protocol, compact, convention, contract, pledge; truce; alliance.

Art

 WALT: use colour effectively. This is my art. I had to take a photo of myself and print it and cut it out. I put it on a black pieced of paper and drawled round it and cut it out. I stuck it on the coloured paper. My picture is fantastic because it's got 6 colours and a big me in the middle.
